“We reject...that the federal bureaucracy should dictate where and how people live” / The single-family-zoned suburbs they’re defending are the products of federal bureaucracy! Everything from design guidelines to mortgages insured for whites only
As for the claim that enforcing fair housing law is “radical social engineering,” Richard Rothstein says it best: “Desegregation would attempt to reverse a century of social engineering on the part of federal, state, and local governments”
“We believe the suburbs offer a wonderful life for Americans of all races and backgrounds when they are allowed to grow organically, from the bottom up.” / Under current laws and regs organic growth *cannot happen.* And that’s the status quo they’re defending.
