Random, but I'd like to tell you about my professor at university, who was Iranian originally.
After attending his lectures and lab sessions for a year and a bit, I still didn't know him. He was a very quiet chap, softly spoken, and polite.

For this story, it's important to bear in mind I was still a dude at the time.
So, during a lab session, I'm sat next to him on my laptop. He leans over and points at my tattoos. He then sais: "You know, if you had these back where I come from, Iran, you would be killed."

That was the longest sentence I had ever heard him say directly to me. I was taken aback and saw tears in his eyes. All I could say was "...really?!"
He nodded, then said: "but here, this is a fine, great country. Here we can be free and be ourselves."

At that last sentence, he took my hand in his and gave me a very wistful look. He then went back to his computer without another word.

It's pretty much just freedom to live, be happy and be themselves migrants want. We just want to give our freedoms away.
