I am already exhausted with Christian election season dialogue and it hasn’t really begun. Can I challenge us please?

Every cycle the sermons arise about “real Christians don’t focus on the White House. Can we please not do that this time? When thinking about our faith and our political process...why not both?
There has been damage done to people in very material ways. This damage has also impacted the way people view God. When we tell people not to worry about it...it reeks of privilege and pride...
We need not take of our Christianity in order to engage with politics...or really any portion of life under the sun. Neither do we have to let our Christian values *dominate* the conversation
What if we entered this election cycle doing something vastly different...listening to the needs of the other humans around us...particularly the marginalized. Christians can be so obnoxious as they talk over people and simultaneously say not to care about the process
Again...some people’s existence in this country is riding on this election cycle. We should shake ourselves from our own privilege and lean and listen.

Lastly, often it seems we treat the election like colonization and it shows. There is a better way
