once I signed with a “publisher” that was actually a husband & wife who could not find success for their own books, so tricked writers by catfishing as authors signed to their “publishing company” - zero experience in the industry, called clients “family” beware of ppl like that
I’ve seen this happen a lot, writers who were frustrated with the process so start their own company to help other authors. Not saying it’s impossible but think of the logic behind that when paired with no experience in an industry you’re trying to break others into
Anyway be careful with your career and apply the caution in choosing a business partner whether that be your publisher or an agent that you would for any other major decision. Make sure you’re working with ppl who know what they’re doing
