Demonstration of the Raion fightpad's d-pad issues, since that deal is going around Twitter. The lack of a pivot means that all the microswitches can be pressed at once if you press on the d-pad too hard, and the diagonals can be inconsistent if you slide your thumb around.
I used this pad for 2 months earlier this year, and this was a constant issue. My first tournament using this, literal days after getting it, I was eliminated when I moved my thumb slightly and this issue occurred, causing me to stop blocking. Everything else about it is good.
But I personally don't recommend this pad, because of that problem.

The alternative option is the Fusion Fightpad for $60USD. That is the pad I use. The d-pad is better in terms of performance. I have seen reports and images of the d-pad snapping, though, so take caution.
It has not happened to me, personally, and I bought the pad back in October 2019, so I have nearly a year of using it. And I'm fairly certain the d-pad can be modded with an actual Saturn d-pad.

The other option is the Hori Fighting Commander. That was my pad of choice...
However, the d-pad on the 2 that I have owned degraded in weeks, and the left-down diagonal became inconsistent after a few weeks. There is a way to fix this, though, so if you don't mind having to do that at some point, I recommend that pad, as you can find it for $30USD.
Another alternative is the 8BitDo M30 paired with a Brook converter. Fantastic d-pad, however, it has the same small buttons on the top row like the Genesis/Saturn controllers, and it lacks the 2 buttons used for the stick buttons.
That controller goes for $30USD as well, and the converter goes for approx. $45USD. 360-to-console of choice or PS4-to-console of choice are the converters that work.
