The daily "new cases" report from Tarrant County Public Health has become meaningless, due to the backlog of results now being released by the state. I recommend looking at the "epidemic curve" and "covid-19-like illness" tabs on the Tarrant County website. Encouraging.
Weekly case reports continue to decline significantly, and the doubling time continues to lengthen (now at 42 days!).
Additionally, the number of people seeking care in the emergency rooms for covid-like symptoms continues to decline. Keep wearing those masks!
Our local reporters could help our citizens tremendously by understanding and reporting trends and stop emphasizing daily case counts. Social distancing, mask-wearing, avoiding crowds (particularly indoors), and good hand hygiene are working. We need encouragement to persist.
