The far right is a death cult.
Death cults attract people excited by the idea of bringing death to fruition.
These are the brownshirts who will be the first line if/when Trump decides to ignore election results and suppress popular street uprisings against that coup. https://twitter.com/RuthlessWe/status/1295065706988355584

I struggle trying to find a way to say this that will catch, but we have to get this message out beyond the left.
#bluewave liberals fundamentally do not understand right now that the uprisings and Portland were practice rounds for a November rollout of these tactics.

Trump tested the waters on moving feds and soldiers into Democratic majority cities against civilian protest.
Our Democratic mayors LET him.
Dem leaders were like "no, please don't," but their response was completely disconnected from the broader implications.

Police delivered us proof positive that they'll selectively enforce curfews and collaborate with white supremacist vigilantes, allowing them to roam free brutalizing civilian protesters.
They did photo ops with the Proud Boys here in Philly, ffs.

Blue wavers think a Biden victory by itself is the solution, & that assumption is beyond naive.
The *only* way to get Trump out of office is a combination of an electoral victory against him AND militant, sustained mass protest when he inevitably responds by denying the results.

The Supreme Court has a *history* of subverting election results for the sake of stability.
It's literally what they did in 2000, and the GOP has been stacking the court its favor for the majority of the time since.

The only thing that might convince the SC to delegitimize a Trump coup would be 1) an undeniable landslide Biden victory (very unlikely, especially with the unprecedented voter suppression), or 2) a more marginal Biden victory backed by mass unrest over the possibility of a coup.
They don't need the police or the feds or the military to shoot civilians to squash unrest.
They just need those guys, most especially the police, to look away as brownshirts like the Proud Boys brutalize and kill protesters.

Those protesters aren't going to just be "BLM and antifa" (it wasn't just us getting brutalized during the uprisings, either, incidentally).
Those protesters getting beat and killed will be us *and* a whole lot of the bluewave believers finally waking up to the fact that fascism doesn't just say "okay good game, shake hands" and walk away when it loses an election.
It is agonizing watching establishment Democrats nurse their base's false belief that in the event of a Biden victory, Trump will just hand over the reins of power.
Antifascists by ourselves are not going to be enough to fight this.
We need to find a way to wake liberals up.

We're in this hyper-toxic environment where the left is basically in a competition with itself to see who can alienate and dismiss the vast majority of the US, with a special focus on dismissing liberal progressives as useless irredeemables.
It's a satisfying way to vent irritation over progressives' tendency to devalue class analysis and miss the boat on sharper and what feel like obvious left analyses, but it's also a way of letting ourselves off the hook for doing the actual mass organizing work we need to do.
Take it as someone who has gotten to say "I told you so" a lot lately: saying "I told you so" isn't nearly as satisfying as we imagine it to be in our heads.
In these sorts of situations, it's a sinking feeling, not a triumphant one.

We have to start doing a better job of distinguishing between Trump's Democratic enablers-- the Democratic electeds that still answer fascist overreach with nothing more than open letters-- and the popular base that can be organized and educated and moved.
I'm not trying to absolve people who *still* are ignoring the writing on the wall, but I'm also very aware that unless we effectively counter the "it's ok vote joe in November and everything will be fine" soothing deescalation of Dem electeds, soon, we are truly and fully fucked.
This isn't a chastisement to other antifascists; most of the folks I know who are dedicated to doing this work and research on here spend a LOT of time working to find ways to get this information and these warnings out to a much broader audience.
It's largely an expression of frustration, both at the fact that it isn't working fast enough and at the walls that reactionary "leftists" have created that work to actively alienate a potentiay moveable audience of leftish-leaning but not leftist (yet) folks.
It is what it is, we have just over two months to get this done and get a meaningful percentage of the US to a point where they comprehend the threat, and understand that the first bullets fired at us all will be fired by brownshirts.
That's two months to get folks to understand that anyone who opposes and resists a Trumpian coup is going to end up labeled "antifa," regardless of what that term means to them or how they think of themselves in relation to it.
I am very scared that it is already too late.
I really am.
This is a five alarm fire at this point, and most people still can't even hear the bells ringing in the distance.

If we can't manage to wake people up soon, it's just game over.
If people aren't up and dressed and out the door ready to act by then, it'll just be too late.

I really hope we figure it out.
If we don't, the death cult will have established itself once and for all.
Once that happens, it will start systematically instituting policies of death at a scale that is difficult to conceive.
That's what death cults do.
The end.
