THREAD: Here's an rundown of the @CarlZha interview with @arslan_hidayat . While Arslan made so many contradictions & demonstrably false statements, I'm disappointed Carl did not pushback (at least competently IMO) on many of the most obvious ones. 1/
E.g. he says @ 5:50, 6:13, 20:00, 29:15 that we have "no reason" why Uighurs are sent to camps & we don’t know why they are “locked up.” But he says @ 10:49 that it's only because they are Muslim/Uighur & @ 14:03 it's for covering their faces, praying or "not assimilating." 2/
18:18 He says eating Halal is banned in China. Yet many Halal restaurants are all over China. Here's a guide on finding Halal restaurants in China. While I as in China I saw many Muslim restaurants openly advertising the fact. They are ubiquitous.

Han Chinese as well as many other groups have been in Xinjiang for centuries if not thousands of years. He admits that he is not familiar with the demographic history of the region @ 1:13:10. 10/

He also questions whether @ 1:02:55 that Hans have a right to vote if Xinjiang becomes an independent "secular" & "democratic" country. Such a society is by definition not a democratic one where a large portion of the population cannot vote based on ethnicity/religion. 11/
@ 1:39:10 he claims that one day all Uighurs would be completely exterminated and that currently the Han are hunting down Uighurs like some "tribes" hunt down animals and use all parts of the animal as food and other goods. 12/
Then he claims that the hair and organs of Uighurs are being used. His "evidence" was a Uighur doctor in the UK who made this claim. But as Carl correctly pointed out, this person later admitted that this was a hoax. 13/
However Arslan said he backtracked because he was afraid for his family. But then he said the Dr. then backtracked on this admission to @cjwerleman. We are not privy this alleged convo but it's odd that he would do that because why would he now not fear for his family? 14/
CJ Werleman is a notorious plagiarist, it should be added. He's been caught with plagiarism multiple times and is a "former" islamophobe. He says @ 1:56:00 that The west only started to speak on behalf of Uighurs since China didn't sign trade deals. This is easily proven false. Just use Google's "tools" in the search and use the "custom range" time feature and google "Uighur" & "human rights" etc for any time. 17/
Hundreds if not thousands of articles from the US and other western countries would pop up far before any start of a trade war. He also did not respond cogently to Carl's objection of why no Muslim countries have denounced China. 18/
He says Uighurs are still being sent to camps but then @ 1:46:20 he says China "could be right" in that they closed all their camps.
