Seems like every man & his dog is getting involved in the £1m @FanTeamOfficial season game this year!

PLAYER SCORING
Very similar to FPL but with a few key changes:
- there’s no bonus points applied in FanTeam, so no sweating to wait to see if the BPS is amended
- Mids/Fwds get an extra point if they play the full 90mins

- GK’s get 0.5 pts for each save, which can be an extra little bonus compared to FPL’s 1 pt every 3 saves
- they also get 8pts instead of 6 for scoring, if only there was a Chilavert in the PL

- players lose 2pts for conceding a FK that leads directly to a goal or for giving away a pen

CHIPS
- Much the same as FPL, there’s two wildcards per season, one available from the start & one made available around Christmas/January
- There are no other chips to use at all though, so no extra pts potential but also no stress of trying to plan when to use them

PLAYER PRICES/TEAM VALUE
- Much like FPL, player prices do go up & down over the course of the season, the major difference is you don’t lose any gained value when transferring out
If a player you own goes up by £0.5m & you sell him, you get the full extra £0.5m available

- This means towards end of the season you could easily have an extra £4-5m+ to spend, so the tail end teams people can put out are much stronger
- It also removes the psychological barrier of having £Xm ‘tied up’ in a players value, so transfer decisions become slightly easier

NUMBER OF ENTRIES
- Whereas you’re only legitimately allowed to have 1 FPL team, with FanTeam you can have multiple.
Last season there were people with 100+ teams entered from the beginning, which does give them an edge but shouldn’t be enough to put you off entering

- I only entered 1 team last year & going into lockdown was 187th out of c.8800, around 50pts off the top 10 & 90 off 1st
I played aggressively after the restart to try & hit the top 10 but it backfired & I finished around 1100th, which was just enough to win my entry fee back.

- people having multiple teams does make it difficult to win weekly/monthly prizes as they can sacrifice a team & use a wildcard to target a specific week/month, so if you’re only entering 1 or 2 teams, the overall season is what you should aim for.
#FanTeam does have a few pricing/positional differences, but is extremely similar to FPL, so it should be easy to transfer your skills & knowledge.
