Thread: If Senate Intel’s 1000 page, Volume 5 report on its counterintelligence findings reveals that Trump is compromised by his ties to Russia, the next step is both obvious and simple: Impeachment.

Here’s how that would work:
Senate Intel conducted a 3+ year investigation, relying on its own interviews with witnesses and materials received from the FBI’s counterintelligence investigation into the Trump campaign (opened July 2016) and into whether Trump himself is a Russian agent (opened May 2017).
Not only is the extensive investigation complete, it’s summarized in a 1000 page report. There is no need for the House to collect any documents or interview any witnesses. They can simply rely on the work done by Senate Intel and proceed directly to a vote on whether to impeach.
This means that impeachment can happen on a moment’s notice and there’s nothing Trump or Barr can do to delay or obstruct the process. Volume 5 could be released one day and the House could hold a quick hearing and impeach Trump the very next day.
More likely, the House would hold some hearings to air Senate Intel’s most damning findings for all to see. Mark Warner or Kamala Harris could appear before the House and explain Senate Intel’s findings. Or Adam Schiff could summarize the case. How does five days of that sound?
We learned last year that the House has the ability to “impeach and hold,” so they can decide whether and when to send the case to the Senate, and they clearly would not send the case to the Senate without a guaranteed conviction.

There will be no Senate exoneration for Trump.
My guess is that Volume 5 will be released right after Labor Day. Assuming Volume 5 reveals that Trump is compromised by ties to Russia, I would expect the House to hold a week or two of hearings and be prepared to impeach Trump by the end of September.
