We should pay special attention to @AWeissmann's tweets over the next few weeks as he pontificates on the Durham Probe and tries his best to smear Durham. Durham, a career fed. prosecutor, has an excellent reputation within the defense bar as a non-partisan, straight shooter. 1/ https://twitter.com/AWeissmann_/status/1294618048725491712
Not true of Weissmann. He was widely loathed and publicly criticized, for his sharp tactics and egregious, over-zealous methods . It takes a lot for a federal judge to call you out by name for "reprehensible" and "myopic" withholding of exculpatory materials from the defense. 2/
Weissmann was up to the task. And try asking the Houston defense bar about his notorious behavior in the Enron investigation. So what is actually happening here? Weissmann and his buddies are well aware of Durham's straight-shooter reputation and they are apparently worried. 3/
Worried about what Durham will find and reveal about Crossfire Hurricane and FISA abuse--beyond what IG Horowitz has already discovered. Keep in mind that Durham has far more investigatory power and authority than Horowitz did. So it is imperative now for AW to smear Durham. 4/
The question is why? What is AW afraid of and why? Doesn't he want to get to the bottom of what is now known to be shocking FBI misbehavior? Why wouldn't he want this looked into by a straight-shooting prosecutor? Why would he publicly join in the effort to obscure the truth? 5/
I'm deadly serious about this. Weissmann obviously saw himself as a dedicated public servant unfairly maligned by President Trump and his allies. I vocally, repeatedly criticized the DJT camp's harsh personal attacks on Mueller and his people. But now I want to know the truth. 6/
Weissmann should want to know it too and should be happy it is being looked into by someone with Durham's reputation for probity. Frankly, AW's crew should have looked into some of it themselves. What's motivating you Mr. Weissmann? Is there something you're trying to hide? end/
