Ok so the recent spate of sheer human nastiness masquerading as noble, principled anti-Trumpism, reminds me of a fight I recently saw here between a Trumper & an anti-Trumper. No names for obvious reasons, & bc I am sure this applies to 100s of similar fights. (1/
The Trumper Tweeted something inane that was pro-Trump, & I don't even recall the text, though I do recall thinking "l totally disagree." Then I saw an anti-Trumper, however, reacting in a totally disproportionate way. (2/
As in, not just arguing why the Trumper was wrong, but using personal attacks, cursing, etc. The Trumper replied with a comeback that was surprisingly polite & did NOT use profanity. The anti-Trumper was pretty much reduced to "I am taking my ball & going home, you troll!" (3/
But you know who came across, at least to me, as an even worse troll? The anti-Trumper. Even though I agreed on the substance. I thought, if space aliens who knew nothing of Trump, saw this, they'd likely side with the Trumper. (4/
Now, the anti-Trumper's comments were nowhere in the same galaxy as crass, as those mocking Trump over the death of his brother. That kind of thing does absolutely nothing to convince people to oppose Trump. If anything it will do the opposite. (5/
Of course, the "Wrong Trump" crowd are likely just mocking him to feel better about themselves. Likely, considering this is Twitter, they're not actually trying to convince anyone. But if they are, they should shut it, even out of sheer self-interest. (/end ... for now!)
