On #worldhelicopterday it’s worth learning from the best. Here we see group decision making at its best. The Co-Pilot seems particularly stoked at the skippers plan to conduct a (standard) ‘tip the hat’ manoeuvre.
In the event of an emergency, any emergency, always always check your volts. The old aviation saying goes ‘if your volts are leaking, it’s the ground you’re seeking’
Communication is key in an emergency. Reassure your crew that you have things under control and you are going to conduct a successfull autorotation.
In autorotation, at 1000ft AGL, it is a good idea to reassure your Co-Pilot that the plan is working. Consider a non-verbal assurance such as a pat on the knee.
A successfull auto should be similar in feel to a rollercoaster ride. Bonus points if (as shown in most movies but not this) you fly with both hands on the cyclic.
Finally, gently cushion the landing. Time for a debrief over a nice cup of tea. #CRM #worldhelicopterday #therockrocks
