Is it a lie though???
So after working hard and carefully arranging your family and raising your child, you should send them to an environment where children from families who don’t care what they do will undo all your meticulous parenting in less than one term?
Be realistic. https://twitter.com/OwenJones84/status/1294613207789838336

Everyone paying for school is paying for a certain level of educational quality, but beyond that, what they are REALLY paying for is to expose their children to certain behaviours and types of people while simultaneously excluding their children from certain people and behaviours
Pretending you don’t know this, and getting upset about it, is pointless.
Imagine you spend years raising your child in an environment where they are courteous, measured, thoughtful and kind, then you send them to a school where the children behave like wild animals.

It's so amusing all the negative responses to this thread.
What is very clear, is that people love beautiful lies.
What you want is for everybody to pretend and say that things you like to hear.
Once someone describes the actual reality of the situation, you get offended.

I went to private schools all my life, and then I also briefly went to a public school for about a year, then back to private boarding school.
Everyone from the students to the parents to the teachers is very aware of what they hope to gain from sending their child to a school.

And those who are not aware, or those who just send their child to any school, because school is school, are the ones who lose out in the end.
Perhaps all this while you were fast asleep thinking school is just school.
Other people are strategically planning their kid's lives.

And this is not to say that private school is always "better".
Private schools usually are a very cutthroat environment, and there is probably more bullying in private schools than public schools.
My point is, it's unrealistic to pretend you don't know the reasons for private.

People really want to pretend that the whole point of sending your children to exclusive schools isn't to forge life long friendships with rich and powerful families.
I'm not saying you should feel better or worse about it, I'm just saying you should be honest and realistic.

Muting this thread.
