American talents that I believe will break out soon [A THREAD]
First of all, I’m mainly making this thread because, being an American, our talent pool has been mediocre for a long time. However, there are now a lot of players starting to break through the ranks for European clubs and I believe that we can become competitive internationally.
Players like Pulisic, Gio Reyna, Adams, McKennie, Yedlin and Dest are all well-known at this point. However, there is still a great deal of American talents that remain generally unknown.
Josh Sargent (Werder Bremen)
The 20-year-old striker missed the first half of the season through injury and was largely underwhelming, only managing 4 goals + 2 assists. His career has halted since bursting onto the scene at the u20 World Cup, but he still has loads of potential.
Antonee Robinson (Wigan Athletic)
The 23-year-old left back had been a mainstay for Wigan this season and looked primed for a January move to AC Milan. That deal collapsed, but he looks set for PL football next season, with Sheffield United, Everton, and Newcastle all interested.
Konrad de la Fuente (FC Barcelona)
The teenager has been lighting it up for Barca B this season, helping them earn promotion, and was included in the squad for the UCL match against Napoli. He recently signed a contract extension that includes a €50 million release clause.
Ulysses Llanez (Wolfsburg)
At just age 17, the striker has already scored on his national team debut and was recently promoted to the senior Wolfsburg side after racking up 11 goals in 16 games in the u19 division. A dual national, Llanez chose the United States over Mexico.
Zach Steffen (Manchester City)
A household name in American football, Steffen has emerged as our #1 goalkeeper. Following a loan spell at Fortuna Düsseldorf, he has returned to Man City and looks set to be the backup keeper with Claudio Bravo leaving this summer.
Chris Richards (Bayern Munich)
The young center back has been tipped to become the “next Boateng” at Bayern after making his senior debut against Freiburg. He was also recently included in Bayern’s UCL squad, and looks destined for a breakthrough soon.
