Many of you who don't even live here applauded the election of Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot very loudly bc she was a gay Black woman and that was presumed to be a win, even as people like me and Black youth organizers warned you she would be a nightmare. Pls learn from this.
Y'all shaped her identity into a win for diversity even as queer BlPOC told you she would hurt us. And now, as the violence of her cops against protesters hits historic heights, will y'all make as much noise for the people being beaten by CPD as you did when Lightfoot won? Pls?
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot never deserved your support, and the people who do deserve it are being subjected to terror, brutality & incarceration in the age of COVID-19. Pls, make some noise and tell Chicago's mayor that her cops won't beat and gas their way out of this mess.
