Oxford University has looked carefully at the individual circumstances of all applicants who didn’t meet their grades this year. We have now offered places to over 300 of them, far more than in previous years: https://bit.ly/2020-admissions (1/3)
The overwhelming majority of these are UK state school candidates, from disadvantaged backgrounds. As a result Oxford's UK state school intake this year currently stands at 67.8% - an increase of 5.7% compared to 2019. (2/3)
It's not possible to give places to all state school offer holders as we are constrained by gov. Student Number Controls. We also do not have space to admit more students while meeting social distancing restrictions & other health & safety challenges presented by COVID-19 (3/3)
