Why Dan Barlaser is like a new signing for Newcastle United ?
Why Newcastle United needs him right now ?

(23, Anglo-Turkish Playmaker, 1m84, 62 kg)

#NUFC
Borned and raised in the Newcastle area, he's been at Newcastle since 2006, and was part of a good crop of players like Longstaff, Gibson (now at Everton), Armstrong or Cal Robert. Rafa Benitez handed him his pro debut in 2017
After being loaned for the 2nd half of the season to Crewe Alexandra (in League Two) in 2017, where he only played 4 games, he’d get a great experience the next season at a higer division, going to Accrington (where Tom Allan has been sent recently)

... just promoted in League One, where he played a fundamental role for his 1st pro season in helping the team finish 14th (44 games played, 2 goals, 3 assists) https://twitter.com/SportingLifeFC/status/1099964680565596160?s=20
After being close to join a Championship club (Wigan and Preston were chasing him), he finally went to Rotterham, just relegated in L1. It happened to be a great choice for his development as he’s been an influential piece to a team (2 goals, 5 assists in 35games all comp) ...
... that finished 2nd with maybe the best offensive team (2nd best amount of goals scored) while being very respectable defensively (8th best record).

-27 games played: W17 (63%) D6 (22%) L4 (15%) 2.1 ppg

-8 games missed: W1 (12.5%) D2 (25%) L5 (62.5%) 0.63 ppg
Geordie Pirlo ?

A initiator of the offense, he's a progressive playmaker dictating the pace of the game with a long range of passing

With 3,1 chances created per 90 minutes, he’s the 2nd best midfield across the 3 first divisions, only behind De Bruyne.

A strong right foot and technique that also makes him a great crossing and set piece asset, considering the few options #NUFC possesses (Shelvey and Ritchie), he's also able to play get foward to make killer passes or shoot from distance. https://twitter.com/toonarmy_com/status/1212676737835917314?s=20
Committed defensively

If he’s an creative player, he’s also very disciplined on the defense end, with good positionning and workrate. He made 4,4 interceptions at Accrington and 1.2 per 90 mins at Rotterham. He also made 2.1 tackles per 90 min in 2019-20
Underrated in the air

What’s underrated about him is his ability to win aerial challenges, he’s been winning, won 51,6% of his while at Accrington, and 65% at Rotterham (1,9 per 90 mins). Adjusting to small details of English Football is key for his chances of being a PL player
Where does he fit ?

Barlaser has an the ability to play DM in a double pivot, as holding DM or CM in a midfield 3. His ability to stay disciplined makes him a good fit for all the current midfield options and in order to turn the lowest possession team...
into a balanced structure that opposing defense can be wary off. Barlaser can be very helpful to play out of the defense and would allow players like Shelvey and Longstaff to play higher up the pitch as seen during PL restart in 433.
Being 23 is NOT an issue

-Not at all, in fact what matter is that he's only had 2 years of pro football and can only improve playing at a higher level, playing/training with better players. Barlaser has all the tools of a late bloomer and has not reached his peak yet.
Ready to be a squad player

With Hendrick being very close to sign, Hayden, Longstaff and Shelvey (+ an extra player if Matty Longstaff and Bentaleb leave). #NUFC would have enough experienced pieces to ease Dan’s transition from L1 to PL. Pre-season can speed up the process tho
- Take the Longstaff experiment as example, he’s had an excellent loan to Blackpool in 2018 where he displayed his ability to be impactful in the last 3rd (9 goals scored in League One). Wanted by Rangers, he returned as a better player ready to step up. #NUFC
Lookman has played 49 games in two seasons in L1 before signing for Everton for£6M

Delph played in L1 before going to Villa for £9,5M, and breaking into the starting 11 a year later.

Dele Alli and Dwight Gayle from L1 to PL, so let's agree that some player can make the jump.
In his case, Barlaser has had great loans for his two first pro seasons, being able to play on his strenghts couldnt have done more, playing 83 games in 2 years and getting experience and not being far from being the best in the League at his position. https://twitter.com/WillDanielsRUFC/status/1271899156496465922?s=20
There's 0 urgency to loan Barlaser, in fact Newcastle is in a desperate need of creativity. He is good enough to earn a spot in the bench to start his NUFC career and emulate Dummett and Longstaff who were like signings. Pre-season is the best opportunity to insert him #NUFC
Having played for Turkey’s U-17 and England’s U-18, he has a chance of playing international football. Linked by some Turkish giants (Besiktas, Galatasaray) the last few years, he’s a player Turkey may have to look at and that'd be a credit to NUFC's academy.
Brucie gave his wordšŸ˜‚. Barlaser’s skillset is something this team needs and there's a great opportunity to make room for him and save money to sign other players. He's the type of player allowing a more progressive football #NUFC
Barlaser has the potential to be an excellent player while already be a squad player right now. #NUFC should have the goal to developp him long-term also in a view him into a Turkish international player. Nothing to lose but potentially high rewards.
