How feminism has helped all genders and not just women: A THREAD
first things first, women were oppressed back then and feminism is a movement that started to uplift them, so yes the term is "feminism" and if you feel the need to debase the entire movement on the basis of a literal technicality, this thread is not for you.
I've said this before, and I'll say this again, your feminism is pointless if it's not intersectional. So, feminism has to and does talk about trans women, gives them a space where they can talk about their journey, their dysphoria
feminism has actively talked about transgenders, how crime against them has been on a rise, how their bodily autonomy might be different but they're still open to be whoever gender they want. Also time and time again, we talk about importance of pronouns
it talks about how menstruation is not limited to only women, but also trans men and non binary people. It gives them a space to talk about how periods are for them and how for some trans men, the body dysphoria is especially unpleasant at that time.
Feminism talks about sexual assault against men, it has, time and time again. It talks about men on men violence, the emotional trauma that comes with it and what prevents men from speaking up about it. It talks about how men can withdraw from sex too and-
they're not always supposed to enjoy it. It talks about child abuse, regardless of gender and how it impacts their lives. It gives men a safe space to talk about their stories of harassment, abuse and rape.
Feminism has also made men realise that they do not have to be the sole bread earner of their family. It talks about how it's okay if they want to cook, stay at home, take care of family and that all these are not womanly stuff because feminists have tried to break gender roles
time and time again, which benefits both men and womxn since patriarchy has always forced us to stick to gender roles and enforces toxic masculinity to men which ultimately affects their mental health when they want to stand out
it talks about how it is okay for men to act feminine and that it doesn't make them necessarily gay. It is also okay for gay men to not be feminine. When a movement validates the behaviour and existence of other people, it doesn't make when you bash it.
Feminism also talks about mental health and body positivity for all. All feminists I know have actively been an ally of the LGBTQ community if not a part of it, they've actively taken part in pride parades.
It talks about child pornography, eating disorders, the trauma that comes with sexual abuse for all genders.
Most of all, it has made men THINK and QUESTION about what they want for themselves, bec as harmful as gender roles are to women, they're harmful for men too.
It has given trans men and women, non binary people and all the other genders a space where they can talk about their trauma and overcome it safely in presence of each other.
So no, Feminism is not just for women.
