Some VJ Day tweets. Which I meant to send yesterday.
My grandad was in the 14th Army in Burma and at Imphal and Kohima.
The end of the war didn’t mean coming home. But at least he got an excellent Christmas dinner in 1945.

A few months later, in what’s now Malaysia, he had, erm, “sweeping” powers.

And here is his a year later, a sergeant major by then, doing his jump training and getting his para wings back in Britain. Third from left.

Fast forward twenty five years and he got a cameo in the Jack Charlton film on Ashington (nearest camera).
