Realised that a small section of Hindu activists who have a problem with UCC - many of them have a problem with Hindu code.

How bringing everyone else there would hurt Hindus is unclear. But then it becomes clear they want different laws for different Hindu Sampradayas as well:)
This appeal to “diversity” is strange as you don’t need diversity in laws for that. State, society are different.

London NYC are the most diverse cities in the world, but they have same laws. So does Goa. Yet anti-UCC goes along with populist appeals about deracinated urbanites.
Now I may half jokingly talk about myself being deracinated, but I feel rooted. My mother’s side shrine is a Sati mandir in Rajasthan, and father’s in Haryana, and wife’s in Bengal - and I feel very rooted at all three places.

Then throw in populism of “elite English speakers”!
If you want to utterly destroy and divide Hindu society until it crashes and ceases to exist please go ahead and have different laws for different Sampradayas. It will be the wet dream of every Islamist, Evangelist and Marxist out there.

The modern state is a different creature.
All that this articulate and mellifluous ranting against modernity, English, cities, deracinated Hindus is that we may finally have discovered the last Gandhians. Who knew that we would find them in this corner of the Indian political spectrum though!

What an interesting time :)
Just to be clear as far as Hindus are concerned we already have a “uniform” legal code. So by opposing UCC these activists are only delaying (if they could that is) applying that to others. Unless they have courage to oppose same laws for all Hindus more openly. Which they don’t.
It gets much more insidious.

Because as of now sampradayas and Jaatis often overlap (though that will change/dilute) and by talking about the need for legal diversity for Hindu Sampradayas (though never spelling it out explicitly) they want different laws for different castes.
I don’t think we should blindly trust and party or any government. But if the UCC is a demand for decades from the Sangh Parivar - then it makes you wonder how did they completely miss such genius insights about the need for diversity in laws for our civilisation? It is possible!
