As a frontline nurse, we’ve gone straight from Covid to attempting clear our surgical waiting lists

Urgent/cancer/emergency surgery carried on all during Covid

But we’re running on empty already. I went in on my Annual Leave to cover my colleague. Her daughter was emigrating and she needed the day off

I couldn’t get the day off for my baby’s 21st and as a single parent that sucked

I’m no different to any of my other colleagues, we miss breaks, get off late, offer to do overtime when the boss asks

I love my patients, it’s so interesting to meet different people all the time and hopefully make their visit to theatre a little less traumatic

And that means hand-holding or whatever it takes. You can’t always do social distancing as a medical professional

But some journalist will earn over €100K pa, to do a press release saying

And frankly I’m a little sickened. And exhausted #COVID19ireland
