First time my company sent to me to UK on training, I was making around N40,000/month. We were lodged in a hotel at Russell Square, where a bottle of coke was like 5 pounds.

One day, a Polish girl asked us why we Nigerians "weren't socializing at the bar" in the evening.
She didn't know I got my brother to get 1 pound worth of chicken (from God knows where), and it put me through the day - and I was running mental calculation (conversion from naira to pounds).

Breakfast was free, so on some days, that was all I could afford.
The advice from HR back home was beyond hilarious, "when you land at Heathrow, take a taxi to x or y".

Fortunately, I had people in London, if not, if not, I for hear am.
