The disaster came from the sky, in the form of a blanket of fog that covered the whole of Europe, the Middle East and some areas of Asia with a blanket of darkness. For 18 months "the sun gave its light without brightness, like the moon, throughout the year",
wrote the Byzantine historian Procopius of Caesarea. Temperatures plummeted drastically, reaching just above zero, throughout the summer: it was the beginning of a long decade of cold.
From March 24 of this year until June 24 of the following year ... the winter was severe,
so much so that the birds perished from the large and unusual amount of snow ... (Zacharias of Mytilene - Chronicle).
I exclude a priori the cause of the volcanic eruption. It is a cover to hide something more
the great fog could have been the result of huge fires caused by the destruction of giant trees and their consequent petrification ... consequence of a war between peoples unknown to us?
