Phonetic map of the mouth that shows where most of the sounds in English come from. I think it’s handy to be aware of the sonic weight & texture of words & how they make a reader feel in different contexts. Often good to give the mouth & ear a workout, too, with variation. 1/2
When I have a gap in a poem, I sometimes think about how that place might benefit from particular sounds as much, if not more than, particular ideas. (I believe this person’s just eaten one of those fruit pastille lollies which, as ideas go, is not usually a bad one.) 2/2
