At York station is this original North Eastern Rly glazed tiled map, with lines now lost & extant. It includes info that passengers of c.1900 were thought to be interested in such as running rights, parks & battlefields. 11 similar original NER maps still exist elsewhere today...
Manchester Victoria has this SPLENDID and really quite vast glazed tiled map from the old Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway - and is kept in pretty good nick these days. Well worth a 5 min detour if you’re psssing nearby. (Pic by @EdwardAJames)
London Victoria has 2 glorious tiled maps too: you’ll find them in a dark corridor between the concourse & buses. What’s fascinating isn’t just the sheer density of railways but what extra info was included: golf links, yacht harbours... & “motor halts” for new-fangled railcars.
