higher due to reward. The players in possession are more motivated to retain the ball & prevent the opposition from scoring points. How many times will a 'coach' throw a ball into a 6v3 & label it game realistic training even if the focus, intensity, quality & effort is poor!
Message here is. The objective of training is to improve the players or the likelihood of victory or better performance come the weekend. In order to do that, the actions they practice have to appear as close to those coming their way on a weekend not just in look, but intensity!
The common thing is coaches blame players for a lack of buy in to a practice or training. IMO coaches need to firstly look in the mirror at their planning, often the solution is in the creativity of a session!
