This thread analyzes #Indian assistance to #Afghanistan during Post 9/11 Afghanistan.

Yesterday was the Indian independence day. Afghans sent warm facilitations. We Afghans cherish our rich, deeply rooted & historical, cultural, social, and economic relationship with India.1/n
India has been one of the largest donors in the post 9/11 Afghanistan. It has contributed a lot to Afghanistan development programs. Salma Dam, Afghan Parliament and Zaranj to Delaram road are the hallmarks of India & Afghanistan relationship.2/n
Indian contribution to Afghanistan has bolstered India's popularity. The country is viewed favorably by many Afghans as the enemy of their enemy. But guess what? Afghans have had been paying the highest price of its friendship with India. 3/n
Our losses are much much higher than what we have gotten from India in return. If you compare Indian assistance with the human capital, social, economic and political losses of Afghanistan it is nothing. While on the other hand, India has gotten more than what they wanted. 4/n
They brought their own war from their borders with Pakistan to Afghanistan. Although Afghan government will not allow any country to use its soil against our neighbors but yet again one cannot deny that the main objection of Pakistan to Afghanistan during the post-Taliban.. 5/n
era has been the role of India. Thus, we sacrificed and have been paying a very heavy price for almost nothing in return. Now if you compare #Iran with India, the former is said to have been giving $700 million annually to #Hezbollah a militant organization wit other political 6/n
& logistical support. Iran provides unconditional $50 million to #Hamas annually. I do not compare non-state actors with state actors but generally saying what #India offers Afghanistan in return is nothing more than candy. A strong, stable & powerful republic in Afghanistan..7/n
is directly linked with the stability of India. The younger generation will always do the cost-benefit analysis of #Afghanistan’s relationship with any country. Afghanistan's relationship should be based on equal respect & cooperation. Therefore, sustain its public good-well..8/n
..it is imperative for India to increase its financial funding to Afghanistan, provide logistical support, training to ANSDF, small but modern weaponry & continue investing in Afghanistan...9/n
You can’t ignore or whitewash Afghans sacrifices with a few scholarships and other small development projects. India owes Afghanistan a lot. n/n

Jai #Afghanistan and #India friendship
