I'm going to be doing a massive undertaking in the buildup to the season.

I'm doing a massively objective listing of each FBS team's best helmet they've ever used.

I'll include pictures for each, my reason for choosing it, and the year (or specific game) for it.
I also want to mention this. I'm not exclusively doing an alternate helmet list, but simply the best they've worn in my opinion.

Sometimes it will be an alternate, while sometimes it will be their standard lid.
First up, @AF_Football.

The Thunderbird helmets.

They defeated Navy 14-6 on Oct 2, 2010.
In the first tie, @ZipsFB have two great lids I couldn't choose between.

The first is the logo I first knew them with from the early 2000s.

The second is a gorgeous helmet they wore against Troy in 2019. They should really use it more.
Crimson lid.

White stripe.

White numbers.

Gray facemask.

Simple, classic, and historic.

That's @Bama football.
For @AppState_FB, there is only one true choice.

Flying Yosef.
For @ArizonaFBall, I could have went two directions (white or blue) and been okay with both.

I decided to choose the blue, because I think it makes their great logo pop just a little bit more.
Few teams in college football have ever had such a perfect logo, only to ruin it like @ASUFootball did.

Sparky was perfect and never should have been taken off their helmets.
This helmet gets a lot of hate, but I absolutely loved the Cowboys-inspired helmet used by @RazorbackFB.

It was one of the more unique alternate helmets I've seen in a long while.
For @AStateFB, I was REALLY tempted to use the ASU logo, but I know that isn't my favorite.

I give them a lot of hate since we are conference rivals, but the stAte logo is simply perfect. It's the only logo they need.

I chose the black helmet, but it even works in red.
There are certain teams whose best look is a simple one.

@ArmyWP_Football is one of those. Their best look is the gold helmet with a black stripe and facemask. It's classic and timeless.
I'm sure @AuburnUniforms will agree with me, but @AuburnFootball has had almost perfect helmets for a long time.

But they were at their apex in the 1980s with the orange facemask. It struck a nice balance between all of Auburn's colors.

@AuburnEquip should go back to it.
For @BallStateFB, I REALLY wanted to put their 2019 white helmet since it features a tri-stripe that makes the helmet look amazing.

Problem is that I don't typically like logo/number hybrids, so I picked their white helmet from the 2000s.

(I included the 2019 for reference.)
Today's first choice is an easy one for @BUFootball.

Simply put, if it's good enough for @RGIII, then it's good enough for me.

Gold, green, and white are in perfect harmony on Baylor's classic lid.
There's a lot of helmets in @BroncoSportsFB's history, but there's only two that top my list.

The Broncos script and the Fiesta Bowl era helmet.
Whether it's the all-gold with the red facemask or the addition of a single red helmet stripe to it, @BCFootball can't do wrong with their helmets.

(Also, how wild was it to have a QB with the number 22? The last I remember was the late Jared Lorenzen.)
I could've went with the more recognizable BG Birdhead logo, but to me, one of @BG_Football's best looks took a more minimalist approach.

The "LT logo" creates a bird head on the bright orange helmet. It creates a helmet that is distinctively Bowling Green.
I'll be honest with you, I couldn't pick on @UBFootball.

The horn helmet is very 2000s, but unique.

The UB is timeless.

The full bull head on the blue is gorgeous.
Simple will typically always win out for me, but for @BYUfootball, it's that royal blue on white that works so well.

The blue/white/blue tri-stripe only adds to a perfect helmet.
