it legitimately matters little what tangible actions the president may have undertaken to purposefully cripple the postal service; the fact that he deliberately and repeatedly announced that he’s doing it and why creates the same intended effect
this is one of those things where the statement with purpose itself is the ultimate offense and any follow-up malfeasance is tertiary
it’s certainly appropriate to subpoena and investigate to find out what he did but you don’t need subpoenas and investigations to google the audio clips of the prevailing gross abuse of power. it’s just...right fuckin there
maybe this would be easier to understand if he’d said “I’ve ordered my people to hide poisonous spiders in five million mailboxes and I’m not telling you which ones”. it literally does not matter if he did it or not; the motive to sow panic and distrust of mailboxes is achieved
sure you can investigate and find out whether he did it or whether the spiders weren’t THAT poisonous or it was only five hundred and not five million - but IT IS ULTIMATELY IRRELEVANT BECAUSE NOW EVERYONE THINKS THERE ARE LETHAL SPIDERS IN MAILBOXES
