What matters the most when it comes to getting into great shape ?

Whether your goal is gaining muscle or losing weight the amount of protein you consume will have a huge effect on body composition. Not only is protein the building block of muscle but it also has the highest thermic effect.
Your body uses more energy(calories) in the digestion process than any other macronutrient. Eat more protein. Increase muscle. Increase metabolism.

The easiest way to change body composition is by incorporating some sort of resistance training 3-5 times a week. Increased lean muscle tissue means increased metabolic rate. Cardio will not have this effect.
There’s a ton of other benefits as well. It strengthens bones, reduces risk of diseases, improves cardiovascular health, increases strength, and makes you look and feel amazing.

Trying to gain size? Well then you need to be eating more calories than you burn. Want to lose weight? Then you need to be in a caloric deficit. Figuring this out can be a little tricky but if you aren’t keeping track of what is going into your body you can’t
really expect results. Just “eating healthy” won’t be good enough if you are really trying to obtain a great physique.

Sleep is an often overlooked part of the equation. Sleep is when the body repairs and regulates hormones. If your hormones are all out of whack it can have a detrimental effect on your physique. There are also numerous studies that show lack of sleep leads to overeating
the following day.

This is huge! You will never achieve anything fitness related without being consistent. Just showing up is half the battle. If you aren’t consistent with training or nutrition your physique will suffer. You’ll never reach your true potential.
