Well, that's a wrap on #NAOC2020!

Congrats to @NAOCbirds and the organizing societies for putting on such an excellent #VirtualConference in such Unprecedented Times™!!

Now that we've absorbed this research, time for some reflection! My initial thoughts below:

1/n
2/n It's been less than a year since the "Decline of NA Avifauna" paper came out.

#NAOC2020 has shown that, despite the solemn nature of things, this is a crucial time to be working in the field of #ornithology, and EVERY field intersecting with it.
3/n #NAOC2020 has shown the need for multidisciplinary approaches to conservation efforts. It has shown the need for collaborative approaches to conservation efforts.

And, it has shown that we, as ornithologists/quant ecols/whatevers have a voice to be heard!
4/n I'm consistently reminded of a quote by Deborah Cramer at her keynote at @AmOrnith 2017 in Lansing, MI: "Who hears the birds when they cry? You do."

That was my first ever #ornithology conference that I had attended, and that quote has stuck with me ever since. #NAOC2020
5/n It reminds me that ANYONE who shares a passion for birds has a stake in birds' futures. All actions, from the smallest to the largest, make a difference. We hear the birds when they cry. And we can do something about it. #NAOC2020
6/6 #NAOC2020 has provided so many ideas for large actions for scientists to consider for future research.

It's time to get to it!
