Since Madrid annihilated Guardiola’s Bayern in 2014 he‘s become weirdly easy to figure out in knockouts. The 2012 defeat to Chelsea was freakish but since then he has suffered some major cock-ups. Showed Lyon too much respect but great game-management from Garcia.
Guardiola’s Bayern lost 4-0 at home to Madrid in 2014 and 3-0 at Barca the next year. Monaco scored three in each leg vs City in 2017, Liverpool beat City 3-0 in 2018, Spurs scored three at City last year and Lyons won 3-1 last night. Extraordinary sequence of eliminations.
Will be interesting to see how Ake (and possibly Koulibaly) fare at City. Guardiola has coached phenomenal attacking teams to mask his apparent inability to coach defenders to actually defend. He has spent a fortune on defensive duds.
