may i remind you that amen told lucifer that he had to ask _himself_ if he was a worthy romantic partner for chloe and lucifer came to a conclusion that he wasn't... that he wasn't worthy of chloe or her love.

he really never thought that he deserved to be loved. that he was worthy of someone who would truly love him.
also may i remind you that lucifer was wondering why chloe kissed him anyway and the only explanation that he found logical was that his charm began to affect her. not that she actually liked him.
