Got some questions about my work with @LinkedIn Learning.
- What are you doing?
- Why were you filming in your house?
- What is this all about?
- How can I do it, too?!
There’s a thread on being a LinkedIn Learning instructor.

There’s a thread on being a LinkedIn Learning instructor.

“What are you doing with LinkedIn?”
I was asked to audition to become a @LinkedIn Learning instructor last January.
That’s right, I had to audition.
I made a four minute video where I taught a quick lesson on self-leadership.

Program is it invite-only. Want an invite? I’m not sure what to tell you.
I was spotted because I’ve been on the Internet for a million years teaching people how to fix work.
I’m about to publish a book. So I have a baked in platform, which helps.

Once my audition was approved, I got to work on writing the two courses — one on managing conflict and the other on self-leadership.
This was a tremendous amount of work that took me from February through the end of May.
I had to say something new and write for the screen.

Once my scripts and courses were approved, we got down to the brass tacks of filming.
LinkedIn does this in California, but because we’re in the middle of a pandemic, they shipped me all the equipment and we filmed in my home. That’s what you’ve been seeing all week.

We filmed two courses in two days. Each course had 12 independent videos plus a bunch of ancillary stuff that need to be filmed.
I was in really good hands. The technical team was awesome. And each morning I had to wake up early and get my hair and make up done.

I had advice on wardrobe and all the good stuff — otherwise he would see me in a @RATM T-shirt and jeans.
I’m trying to teach everybody about big ideas, not draw attention to myself. So the wardrobe advice was really good.

Finally, I’ll be finishing up my assessment questions that go with each module and working with the team in post-production to make sure we have the best product.
I’m really proud of the work that I’ve done, this week.

I give @LinkedIn a hard time like everybody else for giving a platform to people who just want to lecture me about skipping carbs and being an entrepreneur.
But every person I worked with was a class act. And they are motivated to help you learn at work.
It’s refreshing.

I hope I answered everybody’s questions.
If you want to be a LinkedIn Learning Instructors in your bones, lemme know and we can talk more about it offline.
I’d do it again.
