On my walk this morning discovered our (white) next door neighbors (in a large house) put up one of those rainbow “In our house we believe: BLM, etc.” signs. I found that ironic considering... 1/
They opposed the neighbors across the street building a new second house on their very large parcel that is TWICE the size of other parcels on the street. A single effing new house. 2/
“My children won’t be safe with the traffic.”
“It’ll destroy our property value.”
“There’s not enough space.”
“We don’t want to change the character of our neighborhood.”
“We don’t want more of those APARTMENT DWELLERS.” (Code for the non-White residents in our building) 3/

(Barry and I were the only attendees in support. Oh, and the zoning board approved it BTW.

Anyway, the point being...I gave that sign a big ol’ eye roll. If you say you’re for all those things, but you’re fighting against equitable access to housing, the development of affordable housing, and transit-oriented development, you’re a hypocrite! GTFOH 5/fin
