At the time, Facebook spun its pivot to groups as their way to solve fake news. @BrandyZadrozny and I felt like we were losing our minds.

This was going to create more radicalized people and, in turn, more disinfo. It would just be out of view of reporters until disaster struck.
Anyways, extremism researchers and academics pleaded with Facebook to change their groups algorithm. Everything they feared would happen did happen. Maybe worse.

More disinformation, more violence, more death cults, all preying on the vulnerable at record speed.

Facebook knew.
