A shout out to my rural post office:
I grew up in a town of 1k people. The same woman has been delivering our mail in her late 90s Subaru since I was in middle school (I’m 30). We suffered a massive ice storm in ‘08, had no power for two weeks, national guard in the streets 1/

And we still saw her out delivering our mail. It’s been said many times this week, but rural towns like mine depend on the post office. The elderly folks here get their meds through the mail, my dad does too. He runs his business through the mail as well.
I’ve read so many stories this week of med delays or bills being late. I’m hearing them in my town too. It’s not an exaggeration to say people will die as a result of this admins actions.
I’m heartened to see so many speaking out and buying stamps, but we need to do more. I’ve seen many advocating a nationwide strike and I believe that may be our only choice. Privatizing the mail would be a disaster. People will die, millions more disenfranchised.
My father in law was a mail carrier for 30 years, his daughter now walks his route. Postal workers are deeply dedicated to their jobs, but this? This is not their job to fix. We can’t add more work to already spread thin people when there is action that WE can take.
A good thread on things we can do https://twitter.com/bishilarious/status/1294698650145132544?s=21
