Some thoughts, appreciation & criticisms that no one asked for: A Thread

Y'all bullied me into watching "የኢትዮጵያ ልክ" & I am so glad you did. It was beautiful, inspiring & did a great job in communicating to the public the progress of these much hyped urban projects. (1/n)
Now, I know there are some who want to dismiss these as "vanity projects" & I can see where they are coming from, I truly do. But, I only have a phrase for them "economic revitalization". We can always debate the precedent of development projects & infrastructures... (2/n)
...But, I hope we can consensus on the vitality of job creation, revenue generation, infrastructure building, strategic land use, consistent income opportunity for local communities & paving way for local businesses to capitalize on opportunities created by these projects. (3/n)
The way this administration communicates their projects is truly impeccable. I only wish they do the same about the much needed policy reforms, institutional building & most importantly on burning local issues, like I don't know the ethnic cleansing that recently happened. (4/n)
They use outreach as a propaganda tool, only covering the good that is happening. You can't hide truth, we already know, we only need you to show us you are doing something about it & you truly are trying to create a society & administration that abides by rule of law. (5/n)
I hope Abiy & his administration keep on going with all the wonderful things they are working on, I hope they will do a better job in securing rule of law & communicating to the public the trials and tribulations not the just flowers & sprouts. (6/n)
As this beautiful and inspiring documentary aired & as the administration does a great job of communicating the flowery (pun intended) side of our existence, there is a sad turmoil in Wolayta, thousand displaced by flooding in Afar, Gambella, Oromia & SNNPR. (7/n)
Dear @AbiyAhmedAli we always try to give you much credit b/c you have done so much that is worth applauding for in a short time span, you have given us hope where there was none & you have inspired confidence in being an Ethiopian... (8/n)
When we criticize, we only do so knowing you can do even better, in guiding us towards a peaceful & prosperous Ethiopia, it's all in good faith. Also... Happy Birthday, Sir. (9/n)

End.
