Good afternoon everyone! It is time to explain to you what #PandemicSyllabiCJDS is all about.

#AcademicTwitter #AcademicChatter #Cdnpse #highereducation #disability
First, let us introduce ourselves. We are @HannahntheWolf, a MA History Student at @UBC and @FulbrightCanada scholar; and @daniellelorenz, @UAlbertaEd PhD Candidate and CJDS Associate Editor. Hi!
#PandemicSyllabiCJDS
Second, we want to acknowledge a couple of things.

1) It is a great day to demand the arrest of Brett Hankison, Jonathan Mattingly, and Myles Cosgrove for the murder of Breonna Taylor.

#PandemicSyllabiCJDS #BlacklivesStillMatter
2) The institutional host of CJDS, @UWaterloo is located on the Halidmand Tract, lands granted to Haudenosaunee. #1492LandBackLane was raided by OPP for occupying their own land. This is wholly unacceptable. Please read up on your history, settlers.

#PandemicSyllabiCJDS
3) Hannah lives on occupied, unceded xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) land, while Danielle lives in amiskwaciwâskahikan, or what is currently called Edmonton.

#PandemicSyllabiCJDS
As settlers on Indigenous lands, we benefit from the white supremacist and settler colonial processes that displace/d Indigenous peoples from their own lands. We know and recognize this in our personal and academic lives.

#PandemicSyllabiCJDS
Our respective scholarship aims to support and amplify Indigenous voices and concerns while resisting and subverting white supremacy and settler colonialism in our capacity as individuals while working toward collective goals of restitution.

Today, in what we hope will be an ongoing discussion, we aim to talk to you about why you should listen to disabled students if you are a faculty member, instructor, or teaching assistant in #HigherEducation.

#PandemicSyllabiCJDS #CdnPse #highered #disability #academictwitter
As disabled and chronically ill graduate students, we have had a few experiences in academia that have been...less than ideal.

#PandemicSyllabiCJDS
And we know that we are not alone: this experience is COMMON for disabled students in higher education, in the undergraduate, Masters, and doctoral levels.

#PandemicSyllabiCJDS
And thus, #PandemicSyllabiCJDS was born for the Fall 2020 academic year.

However, we do recognize that some folks--particularly those in the US--are already back in their classrooms.
In total, #PandemicSyllabiCJDS is comprised of four parts. Two are collaborative, one is reflexive and personal, and one is what we hope will be an ongoing Twitter chat (more on that later).
You will notice a number of sources from a particularly amazing Canadian disability studies journal.

We are hoping that other folks feel compelled to also contribute to this list, as it is certainly not exhaustive.

#PandemicSyllabiCJDS
(By "non-academic" we mean not peer-reviewed. Some of what we compiled comes from higher education institutions and blog posts that are rooted in the scholarship of teaching and learning.)

#PandemicSyllabiCJDS
Like our academic list, we HIGHLY encourage folks to add links because again, what we have is not exhaustive.

#PandemicSyllabiCJDS
Since we think doing collaborative work is important, and also because we believe recognizing academic labour is critical for historically marginalized folks, if you're providing something please don't be shy about adding your name as a contributor!

#PandemicSyllabiCJDS
For folks trained in teaching and learning, or who we could also call Danielle's #UAlberta (et al. [e.g., @CSSESCEE]) education peeps, adding resources about pedagogical approaches and assessment would be greatly appreciated as well.

#PandemicSyllabiCJDS
The third part of #PandemicSyllabiCJDS is a reflective exercise for folks actively making syllabi for the Fall 2020 term.
Unrelated: FireFox's spell check is saying we need to change "syllabi" to "syllabub" and I am so confused.
