Loss of identity. Dependency on one player. Getting COMPLETELY outclassed by competent opposition after getting outplayed but scraping through against a team of "lesser" quality. The same thing over and over in the CL from the 2016-2017.
2016/17 CL R16 saw one of the most amazing comebacks in football history vs PSG. Winning 6-5 on agg. Scraping through at the death. In the QF, absolutely outclassed by Juventus. 3-0 in the first leg and then they just decided to do what they do and lock up shop in the 2nd.
2017/18 CL R16. Beat Chelsea 4-1 on agg. 1-1 ay the bridge and 3-0 at the camp. THe scorelines are the furthest thing from the actual ball game that was played. Kante was out there AT THE CAMP NOU looking like a prime David Silva. I kid you not.
The class of Messi saves us (as what should become the norm). Outplayed at the Camp by Conte's "defensive Chelsea". The next round. The QF. Roma. No more words.
2018/19 CL R16. We disposed of Lyon 5-1 as is expected after a 0-0 scare in the first leg. To the QF we go. A very lackluster Manchester United team gave us the business on both legs. Once again the 4-0 agg score DOES NOT tell the entire story of how the ball was played.
Being outplayed by them at the Camp and had to be the brilliance of Messi once again to push us through the gates to the semis. The semifinals that year? "CORNER TAKEN QUICKLY....." .... i speak on that no more
THIS YEAR. Barcelona? Outplayedddddd by Napoli over two legs. Especially at the Camp Nou and all its glory but once again. Scrape through. It was a despicable sight tbh.
And then what happens after that? A 2 legged scoreline in ONE game. 8-2 drubbing to (an excellent) Bayern Munich. You see the trend?
That aint Barcelona at all. Even when its competent opposition. The identity has been losttttttt.
