[Thread] Given that international Travel is not really allowed; I want to show you some (hopefully more diverse) gems, should you choose to come visit the Republic of Cape Town

If you like swimming but don’t love the waves(wtf), CT has amazing tidal pools all the way from St James to Cape Point. https://insideguide.co.za/cape-town/tidal-pools/

Areas to stay in that are central and a little bit more diverse than Green Point: Kenilworth, Claremont, Salt River, Observatory. Closer to the Oceans: Muizenberg, St James, Hout Bay.

Coffee Shops that aren’t Bootleggers or Seattle:my favourites are Raw Espresso Bar in town, I love Coffee In Claremont, and Lekker in Kalk Bay.

Iman Haroon Street: theres the spice shop with 700 different kinds of incense, The Lebanese bakery *chefs kiss*, the best sourdough bread in the world from Coimbra & Oasis brick &brac for cheap thrifting. You can also tie a ribbon at the post office where Uyinene was murdered

Gugs S’Thebe in Langa. I think it’s closed for now but The small centre has everything: Live jazz. Art. Pottery. Coffee.

Coloured Food: ok you got your classics Bona in grasspark, Aneesa’s in Wynberg. Wembly and The Golden Dish in Athlone. Farm Stall in Athlone. Mirriams in Town.

There are groups of people who love to exercise when on holiday. You don’t all need to go run on the Promenade. All of Groot Constantia’s vineyards are open to the public for walking. (Will add this this)

Newlands Spur: first Spur ever. Opposite SAB if you want to go beer tasting. Near newlands forest if you want a night small hike, near Rhodes Memorial and UCT’s abandoned Zoo if that’s your vibe.

Also: Near the MPs housing estate if you want exact revenge.

Fish and Chips: ok obviously Plumstead Fisheries. That’s it.

If you’re Muslim and you wanna go to Juma’ah, lots of people like to go to Friday prayers in Boo Kaap.

Hanover Park+ : home of Benny McCarthy & me. They do a community 5km every Saturday morning at Blomvlei field. Then there is Quality Bake for the best doughnuts etc. Lots of fruit &nut and other factory stores including the Coca-Cola factory where you can apparently do for a tour

For something Fancier: Paarl (hometown of comedian Lindy Johnson). Theres the Spice Route- just google it, its v cool! Right next door is Fairview farm. To those who love cheese, they have cheese tasting with or without wine.
