Open letter to USPS Board members:

As fiduciaries, you have a responsibility to take care and remain loyal to the organization over which you have authority.

1/n
Credible reports are appearing daily that President* Trump has purposefully choked off funding for the USPS, and that USPS leadership has taken a variety of actions to disable and slow the mail to a crawl, in order to help re-elect Trump.

2/n
This includes Trump's own statements, photographs of mail boxes being removed without explanation, internal documents showing directions to disable sorting machines, letters from the USPS saying that it cannot delivery mailed ballots on a timely basis, and other reports.

3/n
You, as board members of USPS, have power. You can individually obtain information that is not available to the public. As board members, you have the abilitiy to demand, and get, information of any kind about the USPS's operations.

4/n
I expect you're already doing this, to a degree. Please step it up. Every day, small businesses mail invoices and get payments by mail. Millions of retirees still get social security that way, despite efforts to move online. Health and other insurers pay claims by mail.

5/n
That's even before we get to the election. Purposefully disabling the USPS to remain in office is, in my view, unconstitutional and impeachable. There is likely not time to impeach Trump, and the Senate likely wouldn't convict anyway.

6/n
But you can demand a stop to these actions. Collectively, a majority of you can fire the Postmaster General, and his Deputy. You can hire another set of leaders who will actually do what the law requires -- run a postal service -- and not kowtow to a fascist.

7/n
You can order an internal investigation, demand answers, and direct changes in operations.

8/n
The most basic rule of corporate law is that the board decides. And the most basic fact about board service is that the board is ultimately responsible for the organization's actions.

9/n
You have authority to hire independent lawyers to investigate, if you don't believe that the internal compliance or legal teams are adequate or loyal to the organization and the public.

10/n
If a majority of the board cannot be persuaded to act, the minority can go public, announce what they know, and if necessary, resign in protest.

11/n
You should recognize the public may not distinguish between you as individuals and other organizations with which you are affiliated. That includes

- Inez Deposit Bank
- Cigna
- The Moak Group
- Cerner Corp.
- NorthernCross Partners
- Brookfield Asset Management

12/n
You may have personal liability if the actions involving intentional lawbreaking, and you fail to act in good faith to investigate, and the lawbreaking continues.

13/n
The world is watching.

14/end.
