We all knew this day was bound to happen. It was a day we all dreaded. After 15 long years of dedicating his life to the Indian Cricket team, he finally hangs up his boots. Words are not enough to describe the emotions we fans are going through.
Our era was lucky enough to witness and be part of a journey of a legend right from the beginning of his career. Who would have thought a lanky, long haired man from Ranchi was going to change the face of Indian Cricket and become a mini god in a country of crazy cricket fanatics
Thank you for everything. Thank you for the nail biting chases. Thank you for the magnificent work behind the stumps. Thank you for coming through for us during the toughest times
Thank you being an inspiration to the millions who adore you. Thank you for all the trophies you have won for us. Thank you for taking India to the pinnacle of world cricket. There is a reason we have always lived by the motto “Where there is Dhoni, there is always hope”
He was our biggest pride. All the remaining teams in the world envied us because we had a prized possession in him. Calm, Composed, Captain Cool, Match winner, you could associate him with many words but what word describes this man the most appropriately would be an enigma.
Never played by the rule book and no one could ever predict what his next move would be. I don’t think he needs to prove anyone anything more to show that he’s one of the biggest legends in this game.
He doesn’t just retire as one of the greatest Indian players, he retires as one of the greatest cricket player and leaders this world has ever seen.
Gary once said "I would go to war with MSD by my side". This quote epitomizes the man and his significance to Indian cricket. The game has seen outstanding batsmen, standout leaders and brilliant finishers.
Whatever happens, the memory of him hitting your trademark six over long-on in front of a jam packed Wankhede stadium and an overjoyed Ravi Shastri screaming on air
“Dhoni finishes off in style. A magnificent strike into the crowd, India lift the World Cup after 28 years” will forever be etched in our hearts and will always be my greatest ever memory as an Indian Cricket Fan.
He will always be my captain. Always. Farewell legend, farewell Mahendra Singh Dhoni ❤️
