We see Yanukovich's scenario here. After losing popular support, the dictator turns to Putin. He quickly changed his rhetoric. Now it's not Russia but the West is trying to destabilize Belarus. He also released Wagner mercenaries allegedly "preparing the coup" against Lukashenka
The truth is that Lukashenka was never really independent. As political animal, he was always playing the geopolitical seesaw in order to get benefits from both sides. Now, extremely weak and vulnerable, he seeks help from his old-times patron in Moscow.
