The sad thing is that our own Government appeared to understand this at the start and looked like addressing the crisis in a sensible and measured way, but those in charge inevitably buckled under the tidal wave of hysteria and vitriol from the media and opposition MPs.
So here we are, amidst the rubble, after trying to use a sledgehammer to crack a nut, only now realising that the nut remains intact.
