What services you are using while out at a protest, will give information to the police as to what companies to contact to submit requests to, to get them to turn over your actual valuable data.

And they will too. Companies will, more often than not, turn your information over to law enforcement when asked.
With a VPN they could still see your phones IMEI number though, and what network you're using, and those two things alone are enough for cops to find out who you are after the fact. If ur not using a burner phone. The fact that these vans are out there is proof you should get one
