Since #COVID19 began wreaking havoc on our state, my opponent @ChipRoyTX has pushed dangerous and extreme views about the virus. He downplayed the crisis, pushed for reopening without safeguards and ignored the advice of health experts. I'm calling him out.
Congressman @ChipRoyTX even voted against relief for Texans impacted by the virus. Don’t take my word for it — below are the worst examples of his dangerous and misleading views, straight from him.
. @ChipRoyTX opposed @GovAbbott’s lockdown orders, suggesting people ignore those orders & calling for the state to reopen — long before public health experts said it was advisable.
. @ChipRoyTX pushed misinformation to downplay the severity of the crisis, falsely suggesting the flu is more deadly than #COVID19.
. @ChipRoyTX made the same bogus statement to @brikeilarcnn last month, saying 11,000 Texans had died from the flu in 2018. According to the @CDCgov, it was closer to 3,500.
. @ChipRoyTX also said Texas had COVID-19 under control at that time — even though FEMA was sending refrigerated trucks to help overwhelmed morgues. And on a day that Texas had set a record for new positive cases: 10,000.
. @ChipRoyTX has said children are immune from the virus and has ridiculed the “hand wringing” on our school reopenings. He’s even advocated to defund public schools that don’t open for in-person classes.
. @ChipRoyTX has spread misinformation about public health, pushing the use of hydroxychloroquine to “prevent” catching #COVID19. You know who disagrees with him? The @US_FDA
. @ChipRoyTX has also defended not wearing a mask while in the halls of Congress & he admits to not always wearing one around others.
. @ChipRoyTX also spent the 4th of July traveling across the heavily-populated East Coast taking selfie videos without wearing a mask.
. @ChipRoyTX has waged a campaign to discredit our country’s top infectious disease experts, praising pediatricians who were advising their patients to allow play-dates and suggesting we were all overreacting.
. @ChipRoyTX even attacked his fellow GOP colleagues like @Liz_Cheney who #TrustTheExperts & aren’t afraid to #StandWithScience
. @ChipRoyTX has shown us his true colors. He’s abusing his power to push dangerous and unproven theories that are putting Texans at risk. We deserve a leader who puts the interests of Texans above party or politics. That’s why I’m running — to serve #TX21.
