I'd like to take a moment to talk about the death of Cannon Hinnant

He's the 5 yr old from Wilson, NC, murdered by neighbor 8/9

You might have seen his name trending here on Twitter. #CannonHinnant

Maybe you wondered why it hasn't gotten more coverage. I wondered too
Let's start out by saying, ALL murders are tragic and horrible

Should we be giving the story more attention? Possibly

But then again, in the last month, by my count, Cannon is one of at least 22 children under the age of 7 to be fatally shot.

I'd guess you know nothing of them
One month ago... Kamila Patterson, 2, was shot and killed in Lorain, Ohio.

Police captain called it "an unfortunate tragedy"

"person of interest" is a 30-year old
Davell Gardner, 1, was shot and killed that same day in Brooklyn.

Shot while in a stroller during a family cookout.

There's no hashtag circulating widely for him.
Ace Lucas, 1, was shot and killed in Canton, Ohio, next to his twin on July 22.

Liam Myers, 3, accidentally shot himself, according to investigators in Columbia, SC that same day.

Did you hear of either?
A 1 year old died July 23 in Crown City, Ohio. Police say she was shot by her mother after an argument with child's father. I don't have her name unfortunately.

Two days later, Alana Washington, 7, was shot and killed in Miami.
On July 25, in Graniteville, SC, Jamarious Rogers, 2, accidentally shot himself.

Three days later, Aiden Kelly, 3, did the same in Atlanta.

How did both get near a gun? Good question.
Joette "JoJo" Malone, 2, died in Hammond, Indiana, on July 29. She was in the backseat of her mother's car when she was shot. The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for info on the case.
Liam Nelson, 6, was shot during a murder-suicide in Elyria, Ohio, on July 29. Police suspect father killed him, his brother, his sister and his mother before killing himself.
Aniyah Nettles, 7, was shot and killed by a 5 year old, according to police, in Pensacola, FL, on August 1.

Five year old had found a 19-year old's gun in house, again according to police.

Tyree Halsell, 1, was shot and killed the next day in Akron, OH.
On August 3, a 4 year old dies while playing with a gun in Little Rock.

The next day, a 5-year old dies while playing with a gun in Saginaw, Michigan.

(I don't have either name)

We at 9News didn't cover either case. Maybe we should have. https://www.mlive.com/news/saginaw-bay-city/2020/08/saginaw-boy-dies-after-accidentally-shooting-himself.html
Italia Brown, 5, was shot and killed in Summerville, SC, on August 6.

Three days later, the same day Cannon Hinnant was murdered, Raelynn Elise Craig, 2, was shot and killed in St. Joseph, MO.
Yesterday, Romere Harris, 2 died in Columbus, Ohio.

Accidentally shot by 14 year old, according to police.
By my count...

That's 21 kids shot and killed in last month... in addition to Cannon Hinnant.

More than half died accidentally.

I'm going to guess you know next to nothing about any of those kids.

Thanks to https://www.gunviolencearchive.org/  for the information.
Which brings me back to the start of this.

I would say we in the press must do a better job of covering violence in this country.

But when you accuse us of ignoring one, aren't you doing the same by ignoring the others I have listed here?

Just something to consider.
It’s so weird that you’ve been on this website since 2014. Yet only started to tweet two hours ago. And on one subject. Odd indeed.

Good luck my friend.
