To celebrate the near completion of @Grange_Pavilion and our partnership with @CommunityGtwy, we asked a number of creatives and residents involved with the project the following question…
Butetown artist Jane Hubbard co-produced a series of portraits of residents & contractors called ‘Care in Construction’ to reinforce the message that Grange Pavilion is more than a building. She’s currently working on community art project #GrangetownArtParty
The #GrangetownArtParty is a new initiative to help put Grangetown on the culture map as a centre for arts and creativity ➡️ https://grangepavilion.wales/grangetown-art-party/
Artist and Board Member Deborah Aguirre Jones is also involved and she spoke of the creative potential of Grange Pavilion:
. @johanahartwig, founder of @_Art_Shell_ - a creative company Grangetown - ran a Tech Café at the old Pavilion. It engaged many young people with the project and they kept coming back for more! @Grange_Pavilion hope to launch it again in the new building.
Charlotte Brown is co-founder of grassroots community art project @ArtGrangetown and led the Grangetown Zoo project. Recently the project has seen residents transform their doorways and windows into artistic zoo enclosures during lockdown:
Student Ambassador, @andreadrobna is a journalism student who joined @Grange_Pavilion as a student ambassador and has been working hard, creating content for Grange Pavilion and @CommunityGtwy websites, running fundraising quizzes and coordinating a network of student volunteers.
Shoruk Nekeb, a student in the @WSofArchi, participated in this year’s Vertical Studio project to design and make a piece of furniture for the @Grange_Pavilion. She came up with an amazing multipurpose chair design that can be used as a chair or a stool.
